TVs exist in a variety of sizes and costs, but LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) TVs with local dimming, Mini-LED ( Light Emitting Diode), and QLED (Quantum Light Emitting Diode) TVs are typically less expensive than OLED ( Organic Light Emitting Diode) TVs and yet perform well while supporting 4K resolution and HDR. Though an OLED television will give you the greatest picture, it is expensive and may not be available in the size you want. Nonetheless, we’ll keep track of new bargains throughout the season and update this list as needed to assist you shop for TVs armed with firsthand information.

However, there are factors you need to consider before purchasing a smart TV.

SMART TV BUYING GUIDES

Screen Resolution: A smart TV resolution could be referred as the number of pixels that make up the picture on display. This means that the higher the resolution, the higher the picture quality. To  purchase a smart TV, you have the option of choosing between a Full HD which has a 1920 x 1080 resolution, or Ultra HD sets ( Also called 4K ) or 8K resolution. For a long time, TVs with full HD resolution had been common, but as technology evolved, the ultra HD sets ( also called 4k ) emerged. The Ultra HD(4K) is four times the number of pixels of a full HDTV. Of course in Ultra HD (4K), the pictures are sharper, richer and more detailed. There is also 8K TV ( 7680 x 4320 ) resolution which is four times the resolution of an Ultra HD (4K ) TV. However, 8K TVs are very expensive, which means that it boils down to your budget.

Screen Size: In choosing your screen size, you should take into consideration the size of the place you want to put the TV, the number of people that will watch at once and your budget. While it may generally be good to buy a large TV, you may need to choose a screen size appropriate for the distance you will sit from the screen.

Refresh Rates: This refers to how many times per second a picture is refreshed in the screen and is expressed in Hertz (Hz). This is an important factor to consider when purchasing a TV. A lower refresh rate may make fast moving pictures blurry or jittery. There are TVs with 60 Hz refresh rates. But TVs with 120 Hz or 240 Hz refresh rates are preferable.

HDMI and connections: Attention should be paid to the number of HDMI ports a TV has to offer. Take into consideration the number of devices you may want to plug into your TV set so it doesn’t get used up quickly. But again, take your budget into consideration.

Audio: If you’re particular about the sound quality of your TV, then you may have to either use headphones, buy a surround sound system or get a sound bar. This is because HDTVs generally don’t have a spectacular sound. This is because there are not much space to accommodate large speakers that would produce quality, rich sound.

HDR: If you want better color quality, then you should go for TVs with a HDR feature. HDR (High Dynamic Range) is simply an upgrade of the 4K, (Ultra HD resolution). It is able to give more colors, increased brightness and more contrast levels.

Display Technology – LED LCD, OLED, QLED

LED (Light-Emitting Diode) LCD:

LED TV is just an LCD TV, except that it uses LED lights as the backlight instead of fluorescent tubes. These TVs are slimmer, more energy-efficient, and have far higher contrast than earlier LCD TVs since the LED lights are much smaller.

OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode):

An OLED TV is very different from older LED TVs because it doesn’t use a backlight. Instead, OLED TVs have millions of self-lighting pixels that can change color or turn off individually.

QLED (Quantum Light Emitting Diode):

A QLED TV is a type of LED TV that uses a quantum-dot layer in between the backlight and the LCD panel. When light hits these microscopic quantum dots, it produces brighter colors that are more heavily saturated than traditional LED TVs. QLED TVs can display a much wider range of color brightness than OLED TVs. And, with quantum-dot technology, QLED TVs can display a wider range of colors than regular LED TVs.
